Every licensed resort

This is the Ministry of Tourism’s public register, retrieved 2026-08-17. It is the complete list of licensed resorts, and it is the only thing we claim about most of them — we have researched 15 in any depth. A resort appearing here is not a recommendation, and its absence from our own pages means we have not got to it.

Rooms and beds are registered capacity for licensing, not marketed villa counts. A two-bedroom villa registers as two rooms, so these figures often run higher than the villa count a resort advertises. They are not interchangeable. Source

148 of these carry coordinates, from the LiteAPI hotel catalogue (2026-08-17). Each was checked against the atoll the register records for that resort; where that failed, or where two register entries resolved to the same property, the coordinate is left off rather than guessed. Review counts are how many reviews exist, not a score — a single aggregate rating is the thing we object to.

Distances are straight-line and computed from that coordinate, so the journey is always longer. Nearest runway is the closest airport other than Velana (OurAirports), and it matters more than it looks: domestic aircraft fly after dark and seaplanes do not, so a runway close by is what makes a late arrival possible at all. Seaplane marks resorts Trans Maldivian Airways lists a transfer to, which brings a daylight-only window and a 25kg baggage cap. They are the largest operator but not the only one, so no mark means they do not list it, not that no seaplane goes.
